ALBUM NOTES
Rock band with a rapper? R&B group with a rock guitar player?? Hip hop artist that doesn’t use tracks??? <—- (That might be the closest one yet). We’re five musicians from in and around Philadelphia who bring together all that Philadelphia music encompasses: the rock, funk, hip hop, soul, and we play it live. The studio has become a panacea for whatever an artist is lacking to the point it has become difficult to discern who is on a record; where the technology ends and the person begins.
We’re old enough to remember an era where you had to go out there without the computer and rely only on your bandmates and instrument to execute your songs. We believe we are a live band first and foremost, and that is the best way to see us: in a club, late at night, completely live. We are giving you that experience on this record, excerpts from a two-hour show up in Harlem, New York.
We don’t believe in rules, and do not feel the need to conform to the confines of a genre. The five of us have pulled from our disparate influences that together make up the sound of this particular city and when put together becomes Xpresidents.
Give it a listen and you can decide for yourself who we are and what we’re about. As for us, we believe ourselves to be a Philly band through and through.

ABOUT THE SHOW
This was a show that wasn’t even on the books until about three days beforehand. We played a show at The Shrine World Music venue in Harlem on Thursday, August 23 2017. To say that we had a great time our first time in Harlem would be an understatement. It was an amazing show. We recorded the audio at the 8/23 show and came home with the tracks on a USB drive…
Spock led the charge and started to mix all of the tracks – only to find out that only a fraction of them were actually on the drive. (damn)
Within a matter of hours of this discovery, Management received an email from the booking agent in NYC that they would like us to come back to Harlem the following Saturday and play a set at Silvana. We made arrangements to have the show recorded again and that is how the Bootleg series was born.
Each track contains the raw energy and excitement of a Philly band that has been embraced by a new community of music lovers. Since then, we have made a second home in Harlem and are looking forward to completing The Harlem Bootlegs, Vol.2 by Spring 2018.
